Beijing’s first 24-hour self-service bookstore is located inside the Beijing International Book Mall in Tongzhou district, covering an area of 30 square meters.
Being a self-service bookstore, there is no store assistant. Customers scan their faces to enter the bookstore. They pick up books then scan a QR code to pay for their items.
Since its launch on Jan 12, Beijing’s first 24-hour self-service bookstore has received hundreds of customers, according to Mu Bei, the person in charge.
He said that another 20 self-service bookstores will be set up in Beijing during 2018.
