UAE media react to President Xi Jinping's visit.

"The UAE today welcomed the Chinese President Xi Jinping on his first overseas visit after being re-elected as president of China. We value this visit and consider it historic, as it establishes a new strategic stage in the relations of both countries," Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid tweeted.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, stated that the historic visit of Xi Jinping, president of China, to the UAE is a new chapter in a historic and deep-rooted relationship, and will create a bright future for the peoples of the UAE and China. "The visit will also encourage further overall cooperation," he added.

Popular landmarks in Dubai such as the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Frame lit up in red to welcome the Chinese president. Dubai municipality has joined the celebrations of UAE-China Week, which is being held from July 17 to 24, by lighting up Dubai Frame red, representing the flag of the People's Republic of China and displaying the theme of UAE-China week.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the UAE on Thursday will be a landmark moment in the revival of old ties. It will affirm the centrality of the UAE to China's bold plan to regenerate the Silk Road that had once been the greatest trading route on Earth.
