Hanergy unveils new thin-film solar product for walls

Chinese solar company Hanergy launched a new thin-film solar product HanWall on Saturday, as part of the company's continuing clean energy push.
As China strives to promote clean energy development to safeguard a good environment, HanWall can further improve the use rate of clean electricity by expanding solar power's application to the wall apart from roof, Li Hejun, founder of Hanergy, said at the launch ceremony.
HanWall comes equipped with a glass base CIGS chip to convert light into electricity and enable buildings to generate electricity independently. The company claimed that HanWall is the world's first "power generation wall green system solution" that integrates building materials, building structures and thin-film solar power.
Paul Haslam, UK CEO of international architectural design and construction company Permasteelisa, said that HanWall, as one of the applications of building-integrated photovoltaic technology, has huge potential and proves that the technology has big differences over the past.
HanWall comes in various shapes, patterns and colors to adapt to different architectural styles, according to the company. Still Hanergy did not reveal a specific target price for HanWall, given the company can tailor the product to customer needs.
