A Yunnan student on Friday was allowed 30 percent extra time in the national college entrance exam, or gaokao, due to her physical disability, local media has reported.
This is the first reported case of such an allowance in the province.
Xu Ruiyang, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy, is confined to a wheelchair and writes slower than other students.
Authorities approved extra time for her, in a bid to let her operate on the same level as her classmates.
