World leaders united in sending congratulations and best wishes


Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that in the past 70 years, China had made remarkable progress, turning itself into one of the world's most dynamic economies and lifting 850 million people out of poverty, which is the greatest poverty-reduction achievement in history.
China is a major participant in the work of the UN and a pillar for international cooperation and multilateralism, he added, wishing the PRC greater glory in the future.
International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said that the 70th anniversary was highly symbolic. Bach said under the leadership of Xi-who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission-China was entering a new era and embracing the future with full confidence.
The 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, he added, will not only present a modern China to the world, but also write a new chapter in China's Olympic history.
Vladimir Norov, secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said since its founding the PRC had made major achievements in areas such as the economy, culture, science and technology and people's livelihoods.
The Belt and Road Initiative, he added, had garnered extensive support from the international community, establishing a new platform for international cooperation and steering a path for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Remarkable achievements
Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairman of the African Union Commission, said the important occasion was a milestone for China, while noting the long-lasting friendship and solidarity between the African and Chinese people.
The relationship was a model to be proud of, he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his warmest congratulations. He said that over the past 70 years, China had made remarkable achievements in its economy, society and science and technology.
China, he added, enjoyed well-deserved prestige on the international stage and had played an important role in solving major global problems.
Putin said Russia and China were irreplaceable strategic partners. He added that he valued his friendship with Xi, and would continue to work closely with his Chinese counterpart to create more benefits for the people of both countries.
US President Donald Trump, congratulating the PRC on its 70th anniversary, wished the Chinese people peace and prosperity.
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II said she was delighted to send congratulations on the occasion and hoped for happiness and good health for the Chinese people.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said his country hoped to maintain and expand its partnership with China, which is not just in line with the two countries' interests, but also conducive to boosting bilateral cooperation to cope with global challenges.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella wished for a prosperous future for the "friendly Chinese people".
Pakistan's president, Arif Alvi, said that under Xi's "extraordinary leadership", China will continue to forge ahead on its historic journey of national rejuvenation.
Pakistan, he added, will stand with China as a reliable friend and partner.
Ancient civilizations
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind said that as two major ancient civilizations and developing countries, India and China play an important role in the global political and economic order.
India-China relations are advancing with new vitality, he said, adding that he wished the PRC prosperity.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea's leader Kim Jong-un said that under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people had fought tenaciously and had overcome tests and challenges over the past 70 years to bring epoch-making changes to China and greatly lift its overall national strength and international status.
The history of the PRC's great struggle had proved that socialism was the correct and inevitable choice of the Chinese people. The leadership of the CPC is the fundamental guarantee for the Chinese people's march toward victory, he added.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, who was the first president of Kazakhstan, said the 70th anniversary was an important milestone in China's drive to build a moderately prosperous society.
China, he noted, had kept pace with the times to push forward reform and opening-up, actively conducted constructive cooperation in the international arena and created numerous development miracles.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud extended to Xi congratulations and best regards on behalf of him, the Saudi government and people. He wished the friendly Chinese government and people continuous progress and development.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that in only 70 years, China, as a developing country, had made remarkable achievements and become a world leader in multiple fields, receiving broad recognition across the globe, especially from developing countries.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said that with political unity and stability, extraordinary development achievements, a strong leadership and a devoted people, the PRC had become a powerful country that had enlightened the world. He added that he and many others were delighted and encouraged by China's progress.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said the founding of the PRC 70 years ago had placed China on a great journey. He noted that since the launch of its reform and opening-up policy, especially under the leadership of Xi, China had made great achievements in development and had become the world's second largest economy, lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty.
Socialist construction
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong said that since the founding of the PRC, particularly over the past four decades of reform and opening-up, the Chinese people, led by the CPC, had made tremendous achievements, secured a moderately prosperous life and continuously lifted China's international influence and status.
He wished that China quickly build itself into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.
General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Bounnhang Vorachith said that over the past 70 years, the leadership of the CPC had been constantly consolidated. He added that socialism with Chinese characteristics had achieved comprehensive and remarkable results, which had strengthened Laos' resolve in promoting its own socialist construction.
Raul Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, said that under the leadership of the CPC, China had made great achievements in socialist construction. He said Cuba highly appreciates China's positive contributions to safeguarding international norms, promoting fairness and development, and maintaining world peace.
Miguel Diaz-Canel, president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, said Cuba was ready to work with China to continue to consolidate their friendship and cooperation and promote development of bilateral relations.
