2020 MLS All-Star Game to feature Mexican league All-Star team

WASHINGTON - The 2020 MLS All-Star Game will feature MLS All-Stars against the Mexican league All-Stars, MLS and the Mexican league announced together on Wednesday.

The match, one of the marquee events in the league's 25th season, will be held on July 29 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
"We are so pleased to bring the 2020 MLS All-Star Game to Los Angeles, one of the great soccer markets in North America," said MLS Commissioner Don Garber. "As we celebrate our 25th season, we wanted to deliver a unique and unprecedented format for our annual All-Star Game. Our first ever game between the best of MLS and Mexico's top players is the perfect way to build on the growing relationship between the two top soccer leagues in the region."
"For the Mexican league it is a privilege to be part of MLS' celebration of its 25th season with this MLS All-Star Game," said Mexican soccer league Executive President Enrique Bonilla. "Also, it represents another step in the partnership that we have established between two of the best leagues in the world. I know that this game is played in a spectacular setting and a magnificent stadium will be exciting for our fans, in a city that is special to us. For the Mexican soccer league, it will always be important to be close to our supporters in the United States."
Over the last 15 years, the MLS All-Stars squared off against European teams, including the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Chelsea. The MLS team lost to Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the 2019 All-Star Game.
