Ma Qingyun, a famous architect and former dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Southern California, turned his eyes to his hometown in 1998 and moved to Yuchuan village in Lantian town, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, for 20 years.
Since he came back in 1998, many structures sprang up on the land of Yuchuan, which local villagers had never seen before. What also brought changes to the place is Ma's dream, planted in the land along with the buildings.
This video tells the story of how he built up his hometown and inspired a new culture through leveraging land capacity to help local people out of poverty .
