Liu creates an unreal, mystic atmosphere in which people are awed with unusually huge depictions of animals such as snakes and bats. By doing so, he addresses how the pandemic has influenced the world order and people's life, the differences between urban and rural systems and the importance of international exchanges.

Liu is however not intended to express sadness or heroism. Underlying his compassion for all lives, he hopes to evoke among people a critical thinking over the future of the human society.
