Samsung has two new flagship smartphones


South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has unveiled two new flagship smartphones, Galaxy S22 and S22+, featuring upgraded artificial intelligence-powered cameras in a bid to grab a bigger slice of the highly competitive smartphone market.
The two handsets are built with a powerful 50-megapixel (MP) main camera, 10 MP tele-lens, and 12 MP ultra-wide lens, providing a professional shooting experience for users who love creating videos.
The Galaxy S22 is equipped with an AMOLED 6.1-inch display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and viewing, and supports 25W fast charging
"Our smartphone cameras have transformed the way we create, share, and communicate. Through photos and videos, we express ourselves and connect with the people we care about," said TM Roh, president and head of Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience Business.
A report released by market research company Canalys, said global smartphone vendors shipped 1.35 billion smartphones last year, up 7 percent year-on-year, returning to the pre-COVID-19 level.
Samsung held the top spot with nearly 275 million smartphones shipped in 2021, maintaining its 20 percent market share globally. Apple delivered another strong holiday quarter driven by its new iPhone lineup, taking its full year shipments to 230 million and year-on-year growth of 11 percent, the report said.
Xiaomi closed the year with over 191 million smartphones shipped, accounting for 14 percent of global market share.
