Veteran journalist: World pays for US unilateral sanctions

Unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies on other countries only make the world pay price and lack international legitimacy, said Chen Weihua, chief of China Daily's EU Bureau.
Chen pointed out that in a globalized world, economic sanctions, like what the US imposed on other countries in the past years, often mean a huge disruption of global supply chains, making the sanctions a collective punishment for the entire world, especially the poor countries.
He said economic sanctions have long proved to be ineffective in conflict resolution. Instead, peaceful dialogues are better, and the only way to solve the current crisis, he said.
