More highlights revealed in rehearsal of the Spring Festival gala

The second rehearsal of the annual CCTV Spring Festival Gala concluded on Jan 21, unveiling more highlights to be shown in the event — the most-watched TV gala of the country, which was first launched in 1983.

Marking the start of the Year of the Dragon, the annual gala will be staged and broadcast on Feb 9.

This year, the gala, besides Beijing, has four branch venues in Shenyang, Liaoning province, Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Changsha, Hunan province, and Kashgar in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Audience will enjoy a diversity of local cultural elements from those place, such as folk musical instruments and folk dances.

Ordinary people will be highlighted in the gala, including Yi Qunlin, a 57-year-old migrant worker, who has a passion for playing piano, and 50-year-old poet Pei Aimin, who has won thousands of people with her simple words and drawings.
