Shandong kicks off Spring Festival consumption season

East China's Shandong province launched its Spring Festival consumption season in Jinan, the provincial capital on Jan 18, as part of efforts to stimulate local consumption and celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.
Throughout the season, a range of promotional activities focusing on festivals, cultural tourism, dining, ice sports, and e-commerce will be held across the province's 16 cities. The event will continue until early March.
In the field of cultural tourism, measures include ticket discounts at 4A-level and above scenic spots across the province. Over 250 activities will be held focusing on ice and snow sports, as well as New Year's Eve celebrations.
Rural tourism areas will host folk-themed activities, offering visitors diverse cultural experiences.
Moreover, about 1,300 performances will be organized in urban theaters across the province during the Spring Festival period, along with 204 commercial performances such as concerts and music festivals.
In recent years, Shandong has made significant progress in promoting high-quality development, with a particular emphasis on consumption as a key driver of economic growth.
Statistics show that the province's retail sales of consumer goods totaled 3.79 trillion yuan ($518.02 billion) in 2024, a 5 percent increase year-on-year.
