The total output value of China's forestry industry has exceeded 10 trillion yuan ($1.38 trillion) in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced on Sunday.

Last year, China's annual production of forest foods such as camellia oil, olive oil and walnuts exceeded 200 million tons, making it the third largest agricultural product after grains and vegetables, it said.

The timber production exceeded 137 million cubic meters, representing an 8 percent increase from 2023, data released by the administration showed.

Currently, forest under collective ownership, has created jobs for over 47 million farmers, with an average output of 300 yuan per mu (4,500 yuan per hectare), more than triple the output prior to the start of collective forest reform 20 years ago.

Last year, China's land greening exceeded 100 million mu (6.67 million hectares), according to the administration.

The comprehensive vegetation coverage of the national grassland remains stable at over 50 percent, achieving stability with room for improvement.
