Thailand's Cabinet approved the second phase of the Thai-Chinese high-speed train project on Tuesday.

Government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub said the approval came during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, one day before she departed for an official visit to China on Wednesday.

The second phase of the high-speed railway, with an estimated cost of 340 billion baht or $10.15 billion, will run from Nakhon Ratchasima in eastern Thailand up northward to Nong Khai, which borders Laos.
