Chinese police investigated 73,000 cross-border gambling and related cases last year, dismantling over 4,500 online gambling platforms, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

In 2024, public security departments nationwide disrupted multiple networks and underground banks operating for gambling groups overseas, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday, adding that they also conducted four operations targeting 45 major cross-border gambling cases, which led to the capture of more than 11,000 suspects.

Additionally, police have strengthened cooperation with other departments, including foreign affairs, culture and tourism, commerce, immigration and the People's Bank of China, to intensify the fight against cross-border gambling, achieving positive results, it added.
