Huangpu begins construction on 117 projects with 147.1b yuan investment


Huangpu district in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, has commenced construction on 117 projects following the signing of 35 additional contracts on Friday.
The projects, with a total investment of 147.1 billion yuan ($20.72 billion), are expected to generate an output value of 129.6 billion yuan in the following years, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the district, and as a leading innovation and biomedical production base in the southern metropolis.
Of the 117 projects, 93 with a total investment of 58.1 billion yuan are focused on strategic emerging industries and future industries, accounting for a significant proportion.
These projects cover multiple industries, including new generation information technology, intelligent networking, new energy vehicles, green petrochemicals and new materials, intelligent equipment, artificial intelligence, biomedicine and healthcare, new energy and new energy storage.
The projects which respectively represents nearly 80 percent of the total number of projects and investments are expected to contribute 84.6 billion yuan in industrial production in the future.
Chen Jie, Guangzhou vice-mayor and Party secretary of Huangpu district, said the Huangpu district government will prioritize the development of emerging and future industries and spare no effort to create modern industrial clusters in the months to come.
Meanwhile the district government will promote the development of the "artificial intelligence+" industries, make greater efforts to promote the revitalization of traditional industries, optimize emerging industries and cultivate future industries to accelerate the creation of a modern "manufacturing flagship" with an industrial production of more than one trillion yuan, he said at the Huangpu District High-Quality Development Conference.
To this end, Chen said his district government will work together with entrepreneurs and establish the concept of "everything for the enterprises, everything for investors" to streamline the approval procedures for the establishment of companies and provide better services to entrepreneurs and investors in Huangpu in the following months.
Meanwhile, Xian Yinsong, deputy Party chief and head of Huangpu district, said 2025 is a pivotal year in the country's 14th Five-Year-Plan and it is also a crucial year for Huangpu district to further upgrade its industrial structure and realize the extension and restoration of the superiority.
Xian promised that the district government would go all out to continuously strengthen the guarantee of livelihood services such as employment, education, healthcare and culture to achieve high-quality development and build a modern international Huangpu district, located in the eastern part of Guangzhou, known as a "millennium commercial capital."
