China's procuratorial efforts in safeguarding national security, maintaining social stability, serving high-quality economic development and promoting public livelihood have been comprehensively deepened last year, with over 1.63 million individuals prosecuted for related crimes.

Of the total, more than 20,000 were indicted on the charge of infringing upon intellectual property rights, Tong Jianming, an official from the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the country's top procuratorate, said on Friday.

The SPP also issued judicial interpretations on handling criminal cases of money laundering and damaging tax collection with the Supreme People's Court, the nation's top court, contributing to combating crimes such as illegal transfer of assets overseas, tax evasion and fraudulently obtaining export tax rebates, Tong said.

"The strong IP protection and the issuance of legal documents are conducive to improving and serving high-quality economic and social growth," he added.

Meanwhile, Chinese prosecutors continued the fight against corrupt officials, telecom scammers and organized criminals in the past year to provide people with a safer living environment, according to Tong.

Additionally, the cooperation between prosecuting authorities and government departments, including those on education, civil affairs and human resources, has increased in 2024, he noted.

While recalling the achievements, Shen Guojun, another official from the SPP, emphasized that the quality of case handling must be prioritized, calling on prosecutors to intensify the quality inspection or review of each case they resolve.
