Tan Ruisong, former head of the State-owned defense conglomerate Aviation Industry Corp of China, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and his case has been transferred for further investigation by prosecutors, according to top anti-corruption authorities.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision said in a news release on Monday morning that disciplinary investigators have found that Tan, now 63, lost his faith, betrayed his oath, engaged in superstitious activities and took part in banquets that might lead to corruption hazards.

He accepted bribes, embezzled huge amounts of public properties, involved in immoral extramarital affairs and used his power to help others in finding jobs, obtaining construction contracts and acquiring enterprises, according to the release.

Tan, a native of Hunan province, spent all of his career in the automobile and aviation manufacturing sectors after graduating in 1983 from the Beijing Institute of Aeronautics, now known as Beihang University.

He served in the posts of chairman and Party chief of AVIC, the country's dominant aircraft maker, for nearly five years before being relieved of his duties in March 2023.
