Shanghai's two airports recorded historic passenger flow and flight amount during this year's 40-day long Spring Festival travel rush, with their single-day passenger flow crossing the mark of 410,000 passenger trips for the first time, according to the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd.

The Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport set all-time high records by handling 14.97 million passenger trips in 94,000 take-offs and landings in the annual festive travel rush starting on Jan 14 through Feb 22, presenting year-on-year growth of 8.8 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively, the Shanghai Airport (Group) announced on Sunday.

It is worth mentioning that single-day passenger flow was consecutively rewritten on Feb 1, Feb 2 and Feb 3, with 398,000 passenger trips, 404,000 passenger trips and 412,000 passenger trips handled, respectively.

To better meet passengers' transportation requirements during the peak season, the direct flight linking Shanghai and Belgrade, capital of Serbia, was launched on January 11, and later on January 19 started to offer regular flights between East China cosmopolitan Shanghai and Casablanca, Morocco. Flight frequency between Shanghai and international destinations including Japan's Osaka and Nagoya, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, and Male in the Maldives, was also raised.

The Shanghai Pudong International Airport is one of the three border ports officially recommended for participating in the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games that kicked off in Harbin, capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province on Feb 7. As many as 376 flights and more than 1,100 participants involved in the Asian Winter Games were served by the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
