China ready to work with new German govt

Beijing is willing to work with the new German federal government to consolidate and develop the China-Germany all-round strategic partnership, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday.
Lin was speaking at a daily news conference in Beijing in response to the preliminary results of Germany's 2025 federal election.
Germany's conservative bloc, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU), has taken the lead, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday.
Over the past 53 years since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, China has always treated China-Germany relations "from a strategic height and in a long-term perspective", Lin said.
Beijing upholds the principles of mutual respect, treating each other as equals, mutual benefit and win-win, and seeking common ground while reserving differences when developing bilateral relations, he added.
Germany and the European Union have global influence, and China is pleased to see Germany and the EU playing an important role in global affairs, Lin said.
China "supports the integration of Europe and the strategic autonomy of the EU, and is willing to work with the German side and the EU to continue to contribute to peace and prosperity in the world," he said.
