China's ability to address complex issues is evident not only in its technical prowess but also in its openness to self-reflection through various forms of art, including animation, said a scholar with an expertise in culture and communication.

Speaking on the recent Chinese animated hit Ne Zha 2, Thomas William Whyke, assistant professor with an expertise in culture and communication at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, said that this distinctive approach enables China to produce works that are not only technically outstanding but also socially and intellectually enriching.

"I think it's able to show that the country is capable of creating not just something that is technically fantastic and accomplished with cinema and film, but also socially conscious and intellectually challenging in its content and that it can engage with these contemporary themes while keeping and preserving its cultural heritage," said Whyke.
