A comprehensive collection of Chinese bronzes from the 12th to 19th centuries has opened at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) on Friday (local time), marking a new chapter in Sino-US cultural exchanges.
Themed "Recasting the Past: The Art of Chinese Bronzes, 1100-1900", the exhibition is co-organized by the Shanghai Museum and The Met.
Showcasing more than 200 collections created during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) through to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the exhibition is the result of three years of preparation by the two museums and also the most comprehensive study of Chinese bronzes during this period.
