Wynn hosts Chinese wine awards with 'grape' expectations

With the support of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace are hosting a rigorous week of judging the 2025 Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards from Feb 28 to March 5.
The six-day event goes beyond stringent wine evaluations — it also features seminars, master classes and exclusive wine dinners along with global wine experts collaborating with Wynn's award-winning chefs to highlight China's finest wines.
Organized under Wynn's exclusive lifestyle brand Wynn Signature, the competition is the largest of its kind, assessing Chinese wines by international standards. This year's edition has been elevated with enhancements to the judging system, panel composition, participation scale, award categories, and post-event promotions.
Following the success of the inaugural 2024 edition, the 2025 competition has drawn greater participation, with nearly 200 of China's top wineries submitting over 900 varieties. The judging panel has also expanded, featuring 27 international wine authorities, including 10 Masters of Wine, three Master Sommeliers, and one expert holding both MW and MS certifications. Blind tastings, scored on the internationally recognized 100-point scale, will determine the winners.

This year introduces two new award categories: "Wynn Sommelier's Choice" and "Best Young Winemaker", alongside the prestigious "Wynn Signature Best Wine of China Trophy" and 37 additional accolades celebrating excellence in varietal expression and regionality.
Complementing the competition, Wynn hosts four expert-led seminars offering global perspectives on China's wine industry. On March 2, professor Ma Huiqin of China Agricultural University led a session on the unique terroir and winemaking potential of Yunnan and Sichuan. On March 3, Xing Wei MW analyzed the northwest production regions in the "Xinjiang & Ningxia Regional Tutorial" seminar.
The award winners will be unveiled on April 11, gaining marketing and promotional opportunities across the Chinese mainland and globally through Wynn's extensive network and the panel's international reach, further elevating the profile of Chinese wines on the world stage.
