Stocks slip 0.08% on decade-low Q1 growth

Updated: 2009-04-16 15:50 Chinese equities retreated 0.08 percent Thursday, after the government said the country's economy grew 6.1 percent in the first quarter, the slowest pace in a decade. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index finished the day at 2,534.13 points, down 1.92 points from the previous closing, breaking a five-day rising streak. The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.14 percent, or 13.23 points, to close at 9,711.36. Gains outnumbered losses by 466 to 379 in Shanghai, while losses outnumbered gains by 388 to 333 in Shenzhen.
