GUIYANG - US-based bank Citibank opened its tenth branch on the Chinese mainland Friday, in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

"Guiyang is a vigorous city and we are optimistic about the future of Citibank in Guiyang," said Citicorp vice chairman Hamid Biglari at the branch's opening ceremony.

Citibank has a long history of helping Chinese enterprises realize their strategic goals, Chairman of Citibank (China) Andrew Au said.

In 1902, Citibank became the first American bank to open a branch in China.
