There is an old saying that there is a heaven above and there are cities of Suzhou and Hangzhou on the earth. Suzhou Liuyuan Garden is a must-go destination that highlights the origins of this saying.
Absorb the sweet fragrance of the orchids while enjoying Wu culture-inspired performances in the garden from April to October. During these months, visitors can listen to Pingtan, a regional variety of the Shuochang art form that combines storytelling and singing and Kun Opera.
The Wu culture refers to the culture in the Wu region, which originated from the Zhou Dynasty (1046 B.C. to 256 B.C.), and is centered in Meili of Wuxi in Jiangsu province and extends to regions surrounding the Taihu Lake.
