Left-behind women in Tancheng county, East China's Shandong province, whose husbands are away working in big cities, have been adding to the family income by making pet beds for export.
The local government developed an organization focusing on research and development together with checking product quality.
In a change from their usual farm work, women engaged in the business can earn around 3,000 yuan ($491) a month on average.
