Top legislature removes entrepreneur from deputy post

BEIJING: China's top legislature Thursday accepted the resignation of an entrepreneur as deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), for alleged involvement in "serious economic crimes."

Cui Mingjie, board chairman and general manager of the Henan Xiecheng (or Shoe Town) Leather Company, in Central China's Henan province, submitted his resignation to the 10th session of the 11th NPC Standing Committee Thursday.

Cui, 41, ranked 654th in the 2007 Hurun Report, the annual "China Rich List."
