HANGZHOU -- Rescue work is still under way 10 days after a deadly landslide hit East China's Zhejiang province.

As of 10 pm Friday, 18 bodies had been retrieved, according to the disaster relief and rescue headquarters. Nine others are still reported missing.

More than 1,600 rescuers have been mobilized for search and rescue efforts, and over 270 machines have been put to use to pump water from the barrier lake, smash rocks, and remove debris, according to the headquarters.

Rain brought by Typhoon Megi caused about 400,000 cubic meters of debris to tumble down the mountains of Sucun Village, Suichang County, on Sept. 28, burying 20 houses.
