Safe and sound

英國詩歌和成語中經(jīng)常押頭韻（alliteration），所謂“頭韻”是指一連使用兩個或更多個以同一字母或同一發(fā)音開頭的單詞。例如：Round the rocks runs the river.

Safe and sound就是一個押頭韻的英語成語，意思是“安然無恙”。Sound作形容詞用，解釋為“完好的，健全的，無恙的，無損的”，例如：The surveyor reported that all the walls were completely sound.（房產(chǎn)檢視員報告說所有的墻壁都完好無損。）Safe也有“沒有受到損害的、無恙的，平安的”意思，safe和sound這兩個詞的意思其實有些重疊，不過，人們?yōu)榱搜侯^韻，也不介意語意重復(fù)了。

這個成語在很多場合都適用。

例如：

The fragile china survived the bumpy journey safe and sound.
那批易碎的瓷器經(jīng)過顛簸的旅途而完好無損。

She was overjoyed when the police restored the child to her safe and sound.
警察把孩子毛發(fā)無損的交還給她，使她高興得不得了。
