Kelly Chan joins "Super Girl" judges
While fans continue to speculate who will be this yearåK½ï¿½s åK½ï¿½Super GirlåK½ï¿½
champion from the three hopefuls who made the final cut at FridayåK½ï¿½s semifinal,
the makeup of the judging panel for the final contest hangs in doubt.
According to the organizer, Hong Kong pop diva Kelly Chan will be one of the
six expert judges bringing the four-month national singing contest to a close;
ChanåK½ï¿½s agent company has confirmed the news.
åK½ï¿½The deal was sealed in Shanghai on Aug. 15,åK½ï¿½ said a Mr. Tan with ChanåK½ï¿½s agent. However, as to other would-be judges, Lo Ta-yu said he would definitely not be able to come, while Jonathan Lee and Shunza have not decided yet. The åK½ï¿½Super GirlåK½ï¿½ contest, which started in May, has featured numerous panels of expert judges drawn from the entertainment industry, notably pop singers Mindy Quah, Chang Kuan and Shunza, senior music producer Hei Nan, TV host He Jiong and TV producer Xia Qing. Some of these judges have caused something of a headache for the organizer because of their sharp-tongued criticism of contestants. As the competition heated up in its later stages, fans were increasingly upset by QuahåK½ï¿½s acerbic remarks; because of her refusal to tone down her biting criticism Quah was forced to quit the judging panel Aug. 3. Prior to Quah stepping down, Chang Kuan and Shunza had also been kicked off the panel by the organizer for unspecified reasons.
