Taiwan top rock pop band Mayday brought their "Final Home" concert tour
to Beijing's Worker's Gymnasium Saturday night.
It was the band's first large-scale concert in Beijing since their
music career began seven years ago. Their three-stop tour in Taiwan saw
over 100,000 attendees and their concert in Shanghai also was a big
success.
Fans braved the big windy night, wearing red shirts and holding blue
glowing sticks at the Beijing show.
Nearly all of the seats were taken a half an hour before the concert
started, rare in Beijing's performance circles.
The three-hour performance turned the venue into a rock-craze with
fans' yelling and screaming.
At the second half of performance, one of the
brand members, drummer Guanyou suddenly kneeled down and proposed to his
long-time girlfriend on stage, which made for the most romantic and
sensational
moment of the
night. Celebrated Taiwan musician Jonathan Lee was also invited to the
stage, to serve as chief witness.
The sensation continued with lead singer A-shin’s remembering of his
late grandmother, who died when he performed in Beijing last year. The
sensational aura lasted until the end of concert with the song,
"Gentleness".
In an effort to win over teen fans, the band has toured through college
campuses across China the past several years, holding mini-concerts. Their
songs also are noteworthy for their humour and uplifting lyrics.
