A Thai zoo, which has hosted a couple of pandas for four years, will play "porn" videos for the male next month to encourage them to breed in captivity, the project manager said on Saturday.
The pair -- livingchastelytogether at the zoo in the northern city of Chiang Mai since arriving from China in 2003 -- would be separated in December, but stay close enough for occasional glimpses of each other, said panda project chief Prasertsak Buntrakoonpoontawee.
"They don't know how to mate so we need to show the male how, through videos," Prasertsak said.
He said Chuang Chuang, the six-year-old male, would be shown the videos on a large screen when he might be feeling amorous.
"We'll play the video at the most comfortable and intimate time for him, perhaps after dinner," Prasertsak said, hoping Chuang Chuang would then use the techniques on Lin Hui, a five-year-old female.
The zoo is hosting a four-day international panda conference that starts on Monday, drawing 200 wildlife and panda specialists from around the world.

據(jù)動(dòng)物園的熊貓項(xiàng)目負(fù)責(zé)人Prasertsak Buntrakoonpoontawee介紹，這對(duì)大熊貓2003年從中國(guó)來(lái)到泰國(guó)北部城市清邁的這家動(dòng)物園后就住在一起，但一直沒(méi)有交配。下個(gè)月它倆將暫時(shí)分居一段時(shí)間，但它們會(huì)離得很近，偶爾可以見(jiàn)個(gè)面。
Prasertsak說(shuō)：“這兩只熊貓好像不懂得怎樣交配，所以我們得放點(diǎn)錄像教教雄熊貓。”
據(jù)介紹，動(dòng)物園將在六歲的雄熊貓創(chuàng)創(chuàng)發(fā)情的時(shí)候，給它播放大屏幕“性錄像”。
Prasertsak說(shuō)：“我們將在創(chuàng)創(chuàng)最舒適、最有感覺(jué)的時(shí)候?yàn)樗シ配浵?，可能?huì)在晚餐之后?！彼Ｍ麆?chuàng)創(chuàng)能應(yīng)用學(xué)到的技巧，與五歲的雌熊貓林惠進(jìn)行交配。
目前，為期四天的國(guó)際大熊貓研討會(huì)本周一在這家動(dòng)物園開(kāi)幕，來(lái)自世界各地的共200名野生動(dòng)物和大熊貓專家參加了這個(gè)會(huì)議。
