1月28日，第六屆亞冬會(huì)在長春市五環(huán)體育館舉行了隆重的開幕式。開幕式上，中國花樣滑冰名將趙宏博任旗手，率領(lǐng)中國體育代表團(tuán)入場。本屆亞運(yùn)會(huì)中國代表團(tuán)由160人組成，將參加亞冬會(huì)5大項(xiàng)10分項(xiàng)47小項(xiàng)的全部比賽。

顯然，報(bào)道中的“flag-bearer”就是我們常說的“旗手”，bearer由動(dòng)詞bear（肩負(fù)、扛、抬）演變而來。在商務(wù)英語中，bearer還可指“（證券的）不記名的，持有人有權(quán)自由轉(zhuǎn)讓的”，如：bearer B/L（不記名提單），bearer bond（無記名債券）。

值得一提的是，國外很少有專一的稱謂來形容“護(hù)旗手”，更沒有國內(nèi)誤譯而來的“flag-protector”這種說法?！白o(hù)旗手”一般視情況而定，大致有“soldier，officer，athlete，sports organization representatives”等表達(dá)。

此外，了解一個(gè)常識(shí)：中國代表團(tuán)參加歷屆夏季奧運(yùn)會(huì)的旗手均由男籃隊(duì)員擔(dān)任。2004年雅典奧運(yùn)會(huì)，中國代表團(tuán)由姚明擔(dān)任旗手。2000年悉尼奧運(yùn)會(huì)，中國代表團(tuán)由劉玉棟擔(dān)任旗手，他是目前唯一一個(gè)在兩屆奧運(yùn)會(huì)中擔(dān)任中國代表團(tuán)旗手的運(yùn)動(dòng)員。
