國家能源管理部門有官員表示，“新能源示范城”這個概念還處于前期醞釀中，對應的評估體系和相關政策正在起草中。

在上面的報道中，new-energy model city就是“新能源示范城”。新能源城市將大力推廣wind energy（風能）、solar energy（太陽能）、geothermal energy resources（地熱能源）等新能源的利用，鼓勵green car（新能源汽車）、smart grid（智能電網(wǎng)）等產(chǎn)品的使用。

Model city就是“示范城”，model在這里的意思是“模范的，榜樣的”，類似用法有model village（模范村），model workers（勞模），model wife（模范妻子）?！笆痉丁币部梢杂闷渌磉_方式，例如agriculture demonstration base（農(nóng)業(yè)示范基地）。
