The Zhongguancun branch of the Asia America Multi-Technology Association (AAMA) officially settled in Tsinghua Science Park, Beijing, in the end of March 2013, marking a new step for the association's development.
The association, founded in the end of 2004, is a non-profit organization that dedicates itself to spreading entrepreneurship and advocating modern business civilization.
The association, originated from Silicon Valley in the US, serves as an interactive platform for Asian-born high-tech businesspeople. Its mission is to strengthen ties among US high-tech companies, Asia-Pacific enterprises and Chinese companies in terms of technology, management and investment.
It's also a leading hub attracting elites and professionals from the science, technology and business world. The association's branch in Zhongguancun strives to become a friendly social center intertwining high-tech businesses, financial and other related sectors, as well as a cradle cultivating technology and business leaders in China.
Through several years of development, the association has attracted a major group of elites abroad as mentors or members, resulting in a sharing center for resources and information.
In 2006, the AAMA put forward the Cradle Plan with a target to bring up Chinese technology and business leaders. It's a non-profit project to promote young entrepreneurs in China. The plan, started in 2006, invites 10 business leaders from technology, business and finance sectors as mentors in a series of activities. It also recruits 20 entrepreneurs with great potential to create learning and communication opportunities for young entrepreneurs by means of training, lecture and group activities.
There are altogether 90 mentors and 174 entrepreneurs in Zhongguancun Science Park in the Cradle Plan. Some of the member companies have gone on to be listed with the association's help, including Beijing Perfect World Network Technology on the NASDAQ and Highlander on the Growth Enterprises Market. Members of the association's Zhongguancun branch have received financing capital totaling about $5 billion under the plan.
In August 2012, AAMA Angel Fund, a non-profit organization, was set up by Medium & Top Angels from the association. The fund is designated in particular to Cradle Plan members and potential pioneers with a mentorship.
