The intriguingly named Team Mr. CaNoe won the men’s category at the 12th cross-Straits dragon boat race held in the city of Xiamen from June 10 to 11.
The victory marked the first championship that a team from Taiwan has won in the premier event. The races were held in the Jimei district of the Fujian province city, the hometown of much-celebrated patriotic businessman Tan Kah Kee. Fittingly, the trophy for the men’s category is named Kah Kee.

With 52 teams competing, including 22 from Taiwan, it was certainly a fiercely fought affair with the women’s event being won by the women’s dragon boat team from Jimei University.
