The "Lina", the Fujian Strait Express Roll-on and Roll-off Ship Transportation Co's second express ship, got approval for the Pingtan to Port of Taipei ship route from Taiwan authorities, on March 6.

This is the first official license from Taiwan transportation authorities for the Taiwan ship, between the mainland and Taiwan. The company's application for a mainland permit for the Pingtan-Taipei ship route will open in April.

The Lina, which was purchased by the Taiwan Huagang Group, in 2012, can carry 774 passengers and 350 automobiles. It is 112.6 meters long and 30.5 meters wide. It made a trial run from Pingtan's Aoqian Port to Taipei, on Nov 30, of last year, traveling at a speed of 36 nautical miles per hour, and taking three hours for the journey.
