Taekwondo contest kicks off in Pingtan

The second Cross-Strait Taekwondo Communication Contest which kicked off in Pingtan on August 21 is an annual event that will last three days, and it has attracted 446 Taekwondo players from across the Taiwan Straits.
The players are divided into three groups - individual, mixed doubles, group - and will compete in various disciplines, such as those involving poomsae, sparring, nunchucks and power breaking.
At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, players demonstrated various Taekwondo techniques, and Ding Chengwei, an 11-year-old contestant from Pingtan, said that "our Taiwan friends will be difficult to beat, but we cannot lose morale."
