A new wholesale fruit market in Pingtan county, Fujian province, which is part of a petty trade market open to residents of Pingtan and Taiwan, has opened.

The fruit market occupies an area of 28,000 square meters, and all its products are exempt from taxes and duties. The buildings of the market are in southern Fujian style, and decorated with oil paintings and relievos. The market was put in operation in early September, when the local people will enjoy the delicious Taiwan fruit at the very first hand.

The constructors have been quoted as saying that this market is expected to become a Taiwan-oriented service center and a new tourist attraction.
