The village of Dafu Bay in Pingtan county, Fujian province, recently made the list of top 10 cross-Straits pilot bases of countryside tourism.

The Fujian Provincial Tourism Bureau announced the list of bases at a meeting on cooperation in rural tourism across the Taiwan Straits, in the city of Xiamen on September 7.

The list includes the following locations: Minan ancient town in Fuzhou, Tong'anding village in Xiamen, Weitou village in Quanzhou, Greenmen vineyard in Changtai, Xiashan village in Putian, Peitian ancient residence in Longyan, Meihua village in Sanming, Kaoting village in Nanping and Xiaobailu village in Putian.

Lin Zhengbin, chairman of Dafu Ocean Exploration Ltd said the recognition of an authoritative agency is of great significance to Dafu Bay village, as it will boost tourism and increase the income of local fishermen.

The provincial tourism bureau also released a list of top 10 rural tourism bases in Taiwan, and matched each one with one of the bases in Fujian, in a bid to increase tourism by improving communication and sharing experiences.

The Pingtan local tourism bureau said Pingtan plans to invite Taiwan tourism experts to Dafu Bay village with the aim of increasing the island county's understanding of Taiwan's rural tourism.
