A duty-free market selling Taiwan-imported commodities in Pingtan county is promoting big discounts from Oct 28 to Nov 5.

Customers will enjoy a 20-yuan deduction off a 100-yuan purchase, and 40-yuan off 200, and so on, explained Li Zidian, general manager of the Zhongtan International Trading Co Ltd.

The special offer is only effective at stores with a red “Alliance” sign, he added.

The promotion is aimed at attracting more visitors as merchants at the market are gearing up for the second Pingtan-Taiwan Commodity Fair which is slated to be held from Oct 30 to Nov 3.

The fair’s organizers are also moving booths selling Taiwan snacks and gourmet food outside the market, in order to create more space for the exhibitors during the fair.
