An All-People Reading Month has been launched in Zhangjiagang, urging the public to participate in reading activities and form better reading habits.
The launching ceremony for the reading month, featuring a chanting performance of Chinese classics, was held at the Poly Grand Theatre on April 20.
A book-swapping activity, a book fair and a book-signing meeting were also held at the same time.
“We hope more people can contribute their books at home they have read or don’t read and share with others through this event,” said Xu Menghua, a volunteer at the book-swapping event.
Besides book-for-book swaps, people can also get one book for a book review or essay they write.
So far the event organizer has collected some 400 books for interested participants.
