Pingdu city is located on the west of Jiaodong Peninsula. It borders Laixi city and Jimo city to the east, changyi city and Gaomi city to the west, jiaozhou city to the south, and Laizhou city to the north.
Pingdu reaches a maximum width of 69 kilometers from east to west and a maximum length of 65 kilometers from north to south, accounting for one third of the total area of Qingdao city. It is Qingdao’s largest county-level city with a population of 1.37 million, accounting for one sixth of Qingdao’s total population. There are 26 towns, 4 streets, 1 provincial-level development zone and 1,785 villages under its jurisdiction.
Pingdu, situated in the one hour economic circle of Qingdao city, is an emerging opening-up coastal city. The rich transportation network makes Pingdu a traffic hub fort linking Shandong Peninsula to the inland areas.
