(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2015-03-13

Yantai is a key production area for drawnwork craftsmanship in China. Drawnwork, brought by European missionaries into China during the 19th century, enjoys a time-honored history.

Since the founding of China (1949), Yantai drawnwork, featuring a variety of techniques, has witnessed fast development. Now more than 500,000 artists are engaged in drawnwork. Local drawnwork products have been sold to more than 60 countries and regions.

The drawnwork tool is a specially made bending crochet hook, which pulls and winds the cotton yarns and knits them into various patterns. Yantai drawnwork products are daily necessities, including tableware covers, tablecloths, bedspreads, curtains, tray mats, wallets, handbags, vests, scarves, shawls and children's caps.
