Tai'an city's Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine bureau has launched a crackdown on its produced food exports focusing on food additives, microorganisms, pesticide residue and biotoxins, Tai'an Daily reported on Feb 2.

The bureau said that the full-scale quality check will ensure the high standards of food products being exported from Shandong province throughout the world.

Statistics from last year show the city exported a total of 3,804 tons of produced food, worth 3.9 billion yuan ($605.2 million). The main exported products were canned vegetables to Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Germany, France and other European countries. Canned Chinese chestnuts and prunes were exported to Japan and sweet potato noodles to Korea.
