Yunnan participated in the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industrial Fair (ICIF) with the aim of promoting the province with the theme "Charming Yunnan, Boundless Opportunities", and thousands of visitors from around the world visited its pavilion.

The pavilion – with the theme, "Yunnan welcomes you" – organized traditional dances and promoted the province as home to many ethnic minorities. The pavilion also showcased Yunnan cultural products, like jewel and jade, creative root carving, Pu'er tea and silver-inlaid black copper – in addition to unique nonmaterial cultural products. The exhibition began on May 17 and ended on May 21.
