DPRK confirms its top leader's visit to Moscow in May

MOSCOW -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has officially confirmed its top leader Kim Jong-un's intention to participate in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in WWII in Moscow in May 2015, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Interfax as saying on Wednesday.

The trip would be Kim's first foreign visit since taking power in 2011.

"About 20 state leaders have confirmed their attendance, and the DPRK leader is among them," Republic of Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted the office of Kremlin spokesman as saying in response to its question to President Vladimir Putin's spokesman.

DPRK?and Russia have been looking to boost ties.
