文中的mass die-offs就是指“群體死亡”，die-off就是指“相繼死去直至死光”，而die out則著重強(qiáng)調(diào)“滅絕、消失”。Mass用來強(qiáng)調(diào)“大規(guī)模的”，比如weapon of mass destruction（大規(guī)模殺傷性武器）。
