8月24日15時(shí)10分，我國在酒泉衛(wèi)星發(fā)射中心用“長征二號丁”運(yùn)載火箭成功將“天繪一號衛(wèi)星”發(fā)射升空并送入預(yù)定軌道。

China successfully launched a mapping satellite, "Mapping Satellite - I," from the northwestern Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 3:10 p.m. (Beijing time) Tuesday.

北京時(shí)間周二下午3點(diǎn)10分，我國在西北的酒泉衛(wèi)星發(fā)射中心成功地發(fā)射了一顆測圖衛(wèi)星“天繪一號”。

在上面的報(bào)道中，mapping satellite就是“測圖衛(wèi)星”，測圖衛(wèi)星是專門為測圖目的設(shè)計(jì)的或具有立體測圖能力的衛(wèi)星。測圖衛(wèi)星屬于manmade satellite（人造衛(wèi)星），人造衛(wèi)星可分為三大類：scientific satellite（科學(xué)衛(wèi)星），technology experiment satellite（技術(shù)試驗(yàn)衛(wèi)星）和application satellite（應(yīng)用衛(wèi)星）。

因?yàn)橛辛烁鞣N功能的應(yīng)用衛(wèi)星系統(tǒng)，我們的生活變得更加便捷。我們現(xiàn)在有GPS（global positioning system），也就是“全球定位系統(tǒng)”，它通過接收navigation satellite（導(dǎo)航衛(wèi)星）的信號來為用戶提供navigation map（導(dǎo)航地圖），就算路盲也不怕出門了。
